What is Sheltered housing?

Sheltered housing is usually available to those over 55 years old reside reside in a community with other over 55’s.

It can be thought of as ‘housing with support’ providing various elderly care services.

Some common features of sheltered housing include:

  • Personal alarm systems to summon help
  • An on-site Warden or site office
  • Residential communal areas such as gardens or lounges
  • Restricted access for non-residents
  • Social events for residents and elderly day care with activities provided.
  • Independent elderly living in Blacpool & the Fylde Coast can vary. From purpose built self contained units providing whatever facilities individuals require. 

The properties are usually designed with older people in mind. They can feature controlled access and personal alarms to get help. Residents normally furnish these properties with their own items.
